Blue Monday Webinar
Why we need specialist support services for older people affected by abuse.
Monday 16th January (10am-11:30am)
Post-Christmas can be a challenging time for many of us, but especially for older people living in isolation. Research shows that older people that experience loneliness are more susceptible to abuse.
Hourglass’s Community Response Team include uniquely trained older persons IDVAs (Independent Domestic Abuse Advisors) who work with older people affected by abuse and neglect
However, so far, only London, Thames Valley, Cambridge, Sussex, Surrey and Kent are the only regions of the UK that have these unique roles that understand the needs of older people affected by abuse. Without more of these IDVAs and as the population grows older, the specific needs of those people are likely to go unnoticed.
This webinar will highlight the importance of uniquely trained Community Response Officers, that understand the needs of older people.
Our team will share the important work they do taking on the role of an advocate, as well as helping to raise awareness and understanding of the needs of at risk older people, often unseen by society and professionals.
This is a free event, but please make sure to book your ticket as space will be limited.
The webinar will also be recorded and available to watch on our Knowledge Bank.
