Throughout 2025, Hourglass is hosting free webinars each month in collaboration with our partners, each one focusing on a different area around the abuse of older people.
We’re sharing our specialist knowledge, provoking insightful discussion and asking our panellists to offer their viewpoints on how we can prevent and stop the abuse of older people and work towards safer ageing.

The Economic Abuse of Older People: Coerced Debt and LPAs
Thursday 27th March from 11am
For older victims and victim-survivors, economic abuse is the most prevalent form of abuse reported to Hourglass, totalling 30% of all cases over the last three years. Over the last three years, economic abuse cases received by the Hourglass 24/7 helpline showed financial losses by older victim-survivors across the UK totalling over 53 million pounds.
The economic abuse of older people is a significant issue, with the misuse of Powers of Attorney (POA) and coerced debt being common and incredibly damaging forms often seen committed against older people.
In this webinar, we'll be speaking to leading figures from the charity sector, financial sector and more on the nature and prevalance of economic abuse, how we can prevent economic abuse and what legislative changes are needed to protect older people.
Working Together for Safer Independent Ageing
Tuesday 1st April from 2pm
Following the announcement of a new major long-term partnership between the Churchill Foundation and Hourglass, we’re presenting a special webinar on Tuesday 1st April featuring leading figures from both organisations.
We’ll be exploring the vital connection between safer ageing and independent living, highlighting the challenges and opportunities this brings for older people and speak about how this partnership will look to drive change.
As the charitable arm of the Churchill Living Group, who are industry leaders in providing housing for the over 60s, the Churchill Foundation is committed to giving something back to communities and promoting health and wellbeing for the older generation.
Hourglass, remains the only UK-wide charity working to end the abuse of older people, supporting communities and individuals across the four nations and promoting safer ageing for all.
Together, we’ll be discussing how this unique partnership looks to drive change, raise awareness of the abuse of older people and promote safer independent living for all.
